Introduction

Carpenter Trade is a small scale craftsman course. The duration of the Trade is one year and having two semesters with six months each. During this carpentry skilled trade, students are studies about the things like cutting, shaping and installation of building materials during the construction of buildings, ships, timber bridges, concrete formwork and the like. The trade is career orienting in nature as also it looks like. After passing it successfully students have so many job options including self-employment, the best one ever. Students willing for higher studies can also go for it as it enhances their job scopes.

Carpenter Trade Eligibility

Students should be passed in 8th Standard examination from a recognised school board in the country or its equivalent considered.

• Students have reading skills such as read project specifications to understand what is required for a project.
• They also possess numeracy skills like estimating how long it will take to complete a job; calculate the quantity of materials needed for a job, such as the volume of concrete required for footings.
• They also have good wiring skills as they have to record information on work activities such as problems encountered and resolved and hours of work; write purchase orders for materials and write safety and accident reports.
• Students should be able to work with others; lead construction teams while working with other tradespersons, forepersons, suppliers and engineers.
